The Eat Clean Diet

Celebrities are ditching their detox diets for an easier approach by following the Eat Clean Diet.  It's a easy approach to healthy eating without diets that involve super detoxes, starvation or giving up everything you love.  By cutting the junk out and focusing on foods that provide your body with nourishment, you'll feel fuller, even though you're eating less. You'll also have a healthy glow, feel less sluggish and easily lose any extra pounds.

Celebs who favor the Eat Clean Diet include: Jennifer Aniston, Demi Moore, Gwyneth Paltrow, JLo and Geri Halliwell and man;y more!  To follow The Eat Clean Diet, it's pretty simple.  Limit processed foods, fast foods, ready meals, salty snacks, diet and regular sodas and foods high in sugar like chocolate, cookies and cakes, contain artificial additives and lack vitamins, minerals and fibre your body needs to work efficiently.  Keep them as every other day or once a week treats.  Here is a list of things you can do to start eating clean.

Limit Caffeine
Cutting down on caffeine can stop your body absorbing essential vitamins and minerals and leave you frazzled. If you have a five-a-day habit, try cutting back to one or two cups of java a week.

Drink Water before Every Meal
Dieters who drink two glasses of water before meals shed more pounds than those who only count calories, according to a new US study. If the stomach is full of water, you'll feel fuller and so eat less.

Reclaim your kitchen
Cook meals from scratch, so you know they won't have nasty additives.

Eat More Fruit, Vegetables, Nuts and Seeds
They fill you up with fewer calories, while providing you with essential nutrients for glowing skin and hair.

Cut back on alcohol
Alcohol is full of empty calories that cling to your waistline, so don't drink every day. When you plan to indulge, eat a healthy dinner first.

Perfect your portion sizes
A portion of meat or fish should be roughly the size of a pack of cards, and carbohydrates should be the size of your fist.  Remember to always fill your plate with veges and eat less meat.

Sprinkle less salt
Adults should eat no more than 6g of salt a day. Less salt reduces bloating.

Say NO to trans fats
Trans fats are man-made, chemicallyaltered vegetable oils. Even small amounts raise your heart disease risk more then other foods.

Ditch the 'diet' foods
Diet foods (frozen and otherwise) tend to have very little nutritional value, are highly processed and full of food additives that may trick the brain into eating more!  That's right!  Diet foods are just as bad as processed foods so stick to real, whole foods instead.

Top Anti-Aging Foods

Anti-aging foods have been around for since the begining of time.  Aging is a natural phenomenon in a human life cycle, but we can slow down aging by eating the right kinds of food and living healthy lifestyle.  These anti aging foods are rich in antioxidants that help keep skin firm by safeguarding the skin’s collagen and elastic tissue from oxidants or free radicals that damage it.  Here is an anti-aging pyramid to give you an idea.

Berries
Berries of all hues contain vitamin C and phytochemicals known as flavonoids that are powerful antioxidants which help protect the body against damage caused by free radicals and aging.  Blueberries are also known to have memory-boosting potential.

Avocado
Avocado is a great source of healthy monounsaturated fat that helps reduce the level of bad cholesterol in the body. It's also a good source of vitamin E which can help maintain healthy skin, prevent skin aging, and alleviate menopausal hot flashes.  It is also rich in fiber that is good for the digestive system and the heart.

Cruciferous Vegetables Cruciferous vegetables like cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, and brussels sprouts assist the body in fighting toxins and cancer.  It is best to eat them raw or very lightly cooked so that the important enzymes remain intact.

Green Leafy Vegetables
These vegetables are prime sources of lutein and zeaxanthin that protect the eyes from the harmful effects of ultraviolet light.  Green leafy vegetables are also rich in vitamin K which helps reduce bone loss and prevent fractures.

Nuts
Nuts are rich sources of unsaturated fats, vitamins, minerals and other phytochemicals, including antioxidants.  They also enhance the digestive and immune systems, help control and/or prevent cancer, and control cholesterol levels.

Whole Grains
Whole grains like whole wheat, oats, brown rice and cereals are high in fiber and vitamin B which help improve the digestive system.  They help prevent diabetes, heart disease, stroke, colon cancer, high blood pressure and gum.

Wine
Drinking alcohol in moderation help prevent heart disease, diabetes and age-related memory deterioration.  Red wine on the other hand contains resveratrol which is a potent antioxidant, inflammation depressant, fat burner and artery protector.  Resveratol and red wine are together very powerful anti-aging foods.
Anti-aging foods aren't hard to find.  You see them all the time at your local grocery store, supermarket or farmer's market.  So load up on these anti-aging foods for a healthier new you!

Tips from Celebrity Hairstylist Eric Sebbag

Eric Sebbag has styled hair for fashion runway shows for designers including Emmanuelle Ungaro, Cynthia Rowley, Catherine Malandrino, Betsey Johnson and more. He also worked regularly for magazines including Italian Vogue, W, Elle and Flaunt with photographers such as Steven Klein and Mario Testino. Today Eric resides in Los Angeles where he has already begun to make his mark in Hollywood, cutting and styling for celebrities including Carrie Ann Inaba, Elisha Cuthbert and Ashley Scott. Eric recently developed an all natural/vegan hair and body serum called Sebbag Essentials.

Here is the interview with hair expert Eric Sebbag, which includes his insights on natural hair products, hair growth, hairstyles for active women and more.

You have recently developed an all natural and vegan hair and body serum called Sebbag Essentials. What inspired you to launch this new product?

Growing up in a Moroccan family I can personally tell you the benefits of Argan oil, Olive oil and Orange blossom are not only for cooking Moroccan food, but also for beauty. This includes the reversal of aging, over-dried hair and dry, aged skin. My Grandmother and mother swear by it! You can say it is a family recipe dating back hundreds of years ago in Morocco. The truth is I put these ingredients together to create a great smelling super-product that works!

Do you feel that all natural hair products are better for hair than non-natural products?

Yes! The truth about all natural products that really do work is that they are way too expensive to make; thus making them hard to mass-produce. Basically it’s much cheaper to make non-organic, chemical-based products as opposed to expensive all natural Organic and Vegan products.

Having styled for Carry Anne Inaba of “Dancing with the Stars”, what hairstyles or styling tips do you recommend for women who want to be active without ruining their hair?

Carry Anne Inaba is one of my biggest clients and a huge fan of Sebbag Essentials because it works so well! My recommended hairstyle for active woman is a high or low ponytail. It can also be transformed into a bun with a side or middle part. Side buns or ponytails are also a favorite, as well as a fish tail or classic braid. All these styles can be achieved using the SE serum that will style and feed your hair and scalp with the essential oils needed. And you get the benefit of smelling great with the essential Neroli Orange Blossom oil.

What do you recommend to clients who want to grow their hair faster?

Scalp stimulation and a healthy diet will help grow your hair faster. Also, apparently if you cut your hair on a full moon your hair will grow twice as much!? I guess you can say SE hair and body serum could help grow your hair faster? But that is yet to be determined.

Your look is all about “soft and sexy hair.” How can women achieve this look at home?

Soft and Sexy hair can be achieved with healthy bouncy hair that is well treated in styling and care. An overnight hair treatment of Sebbag Essentials and a good hair wash in the morning is the first step. You can also apply a little more of the serum on your palm (remember a little of SE goes a long way.)  Start applying on the ends of hair and try to avoid the roots. Then using a blowdryer to dry out hair and excess water will cut your styling time by 90% and will give your roots a bounce. Then either add rollers or a curling iron to set the hair. Once hair is dry take out the set and let your hair bounce! Using a blow dryer and brush is also highly recommended for very curly or frizzy hair. You can also use a tiny bit of SE to replace anti-frizz silicons. This will give the shine and a anti-frizz look as well.
