Here is the interview with hair expert Eric Sebbag, which includes his insights on natural hair products, hair growth, hairstyles for active women and more.
You have recently developed an all natural and vegan hair and body serum called Sebbag Essentials. What inspired you to launch this new product?
Growing up in a Moroccan family I can personally tell you the benefits of Argan oil, Olive oil and Orange blossom are not only for cooking Moroccan food, but also for beauty. This includes the reversal of aging, over-dried hair and dry, aged skin. My Grandmother and mother swear by it! You can say it is a family recipe dating back hundreds of years ago in Morocco. The truth is I put these ingredients together to create a great smelling super-product that works!
Do you feel that all natural hair products are better for hair than non-natural products?
Yes! The truth about all natural products that really do work is that they are way too expensive to make; thus making them hard to mass-produce. Basically it’s much cheaper to make non-organic, chemical-based products as opposed to expensive all natural Organic and Vegan products.
Having styled for Carry Anne Inaba of “Dancing with the Stars”, what hairstyles or styling tips do you recommend for women who want to be active without ruining their hair?
Carry Anne Inaba is one of my biggest clients and a huge fan of Sebbag Essentials because it works so well! My recommended hairstyle for active woman is a high or low ponytail. It can also be transformed into a bun with a side or middle part. Side buns or ponytails are also a favorite, as well as a fish tail or classic braid. All these styles can be achieved using the SE serum that will style and feed your hair and scalp with the essential oils needed. And you get the benefit of smelling great with the essential Neroli Orange Blossom oil.
What do you recommend to clients who want to grow their hair faster?
Scalp stimulation and a healthy diet will help grow your hair faster. Also, apparently if you cut your hair on a full moon your hair will grow twice as much!? I guess you can say SE hair and body serum could help grow your hair faster? But that is yet to be determined.
Your look is all about “soft and sexy hair.” How can women achieve this look at home?
Soft and Sexy hair can be achieved with healthy bouncy hair that is well treated in styling and care. An overnight hair treatment of Sebbag Essentials and a good hair wash in the morning is the first step. You can also apply a little more of the serum on your palm (remember a little of SE goes a long way.) Start applying on the ends of hair and try to avoid the roots. Then using a blowdryer to dry out hair and excess water will cut your styling time by 90% and will give your roots a bounce. Then either add rollers or a curling iron to set the hair. Once hair is dry take out the set and let your hair bounce! Using a blow dryer and brush is also highly recommended for very curly or frizzy hair. You can also use a tiny bit of SE to replace anti-frizz silicons. This will give the shine and a anti-frizz look as well.
