Physicians Formula Bamboo Silk Press Powder Review

Physicians Formula is one of my favorite drugstore make-up lines, because they offer a high quality line of make-up at an affordable price, you can find them at your local drugstore and their creating more natural make-up products with organic ingredients that are toxic-free!  One of my favorite pressed powders from their organic line is the Physicians Formula Bamboo Wear Bamboo Silk Pressed Powder.

It's a sheer, buildable powder that creates a luminous glow and airbrushed finish.  This silk powder is nutrient-rich, illuminating and delivers skin-renewing and skin-conditioning benefits for a perfect airbrushed finish.  The 90% natural formula remineralizes, rebalances and restores skin, helps condition, tone and lift and is great for all skin types.  It comes in an adorable little bamboo sustainable compact that is 100% recyclable and includes one compartment with a mirror and the other with a refillable powder and a brush.  What's great about this powder is that you can buy the refills easily in-store or online.  The powder is universal and comes in three colors (beige, natural, and translucent).  Also available is a natural looking bronzer in three different shades (light, medium and bronze).

How to choose a color
The beige is for light skin tones and was way too light for me.  If your light/medium or medium/tan, the natural shade should work for you, as it's a neutral shade and will work on almost any skin tone.  What I love about these powders is their made with 90% natural, organic ingredients and toxic-free.  Although the powder is sheer, it's buildable.  The key to getting more coverage is using a kabuki brush as the brush provided won't pick up the powder for more coverage.  Try Physicians Formula Bambuki Brush.  It's super soft and will really help pick up the powder to help you achieve an airbrushed, luminous glow!

Physicians Formula Bamboo Silk Pressed Powder is hypoallergenic, fragrance free, paraben free,  dermatologist approved, non-comedogenic and oil-free.  So if your looking for an organic pressed powder with a light airbrushed finish or a nuetral powder to even out your skintone, this is the perfect powder for you!

You can get yours at online at Drugstore.com, Amazon.com or at your local Walmart, Target and Ulta stores.

Bored with your daily breakfast routine?  Tired of the same boring, oatmeal day after day?  Try something new and start your day off with a hearty, healthy breakfast!  This recipe can also be used anytime for a wholesome filling snack as well.  Recipe from Skinny Bitch: Ultimate Everyday Cookbook.

Makes 6 Servings
1 cup (85 g) rolled oats
1/4 cup (30 g) chopped almonds
1/2 cup (55 g) chopped pecans
3 tablespoons flaxseed
1/2 cup (50 g) unsweetened coconut
1/2 cup (45 g) dried apples, chopped
2/3 cup (165 ml) apple juice
1/3 cup (75 ml) unsweetened applesauce
1/2 cup (120 ml) brown rice syrup
1 tablespoon coconut oil
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees (180 degrees C). In a large bowl, combine the oats, almonds, pecans, flaxseed, and coconut. Mix together and then spoon onto a cookie sheet. Bake 10 minutes. Remove from the heat and set aside to cool.

Decrease the oven temperature to 250 degrees (120 degrees C). In a medium saucepan, combine the dried apples, apple juice, applesauce, brown rice syrup, cinnamon oil, and cinnamon. Bring to a light boil and simmer 15 minutes, or until the mixture starts to thicken. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla.

In a large bowl, combine the oat mixture and the liquid mixture and stir until all of the ingredients are well coated. Transfer back to the cookie sheet and bake 40 minutes, or until lightly browned. Every 10 minutes, remove the cookie sheet from the oven and stir to make sure the mixture doesn’t burn. When done, place on a wire rack to cool.

Heal and Moisturize Skin with Coconut Oil

Did you know that Coconut Oil is one of the best natural substances you can apply to your face and body? It's one of the healthiest oils in the world and can be used in cooking and topically for your face, body and hair.  It's truly an amazing health and beauty mulit-tasker and it's a natural product I won't be without!  The amazing benefits of Coconut Oil can be attributed to lauric acid, capric acid and caprylic acid which are antimicrobial, antioxidant, antifungal, antibacterial, and soothing.

There are many benefits for the skin including plumping and delaying wrinkles and sagging of skin, treating various skin problems including psoriasis, dermatitis, eczema and other skin infections.  It's also non-comedogenic so it won't clog pores and you can feel good about using it as a daily facial and body moisturizer.  You can even use it on a breakout without causing further eruptions.  It melts in your hand so just apply as you would with your usual facial moisturizer and body lotion until absorbed.  Make sure your using Virigin Coconut Oil, otherwise the it's looses all it's nutrients during processing.  Use for a few days and your skin will be beautiful, glowing and baby soft!.
